The Power of His Resurrection

Philippians 3:10(a) That I may know Him, and the power of his resurrection.

When we say we are like Christ we mean that we look like him. But to understand what or who it is we really look like, we need to take a closer look and understand Jesus. You will begin to realise that there are 3 levels or 3 persona's of the man Jesus.

There is Jesus before baptism.
There is also Jesus the Christ (after baptism).
Then there is Jesus the resurrected [Glorified] Christ.

All three persona's show us 3 different levels of power. Before baptism, we see Jesus searching the scriptures and begin to teach and preach the word of God even from an early age (Luke 2:47). This is power to understand scripture. After baptism, he now begins to operate in another realm, that of miracles, signs and wonders. He begins to heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead! Talk of blind eyes, he opened them, leprosy was cured and the disabled were made strong. The whole land began to ask questions, what manner of man is this? (Matthew 8:27)

All this Paul understood, he could deal with it but it became difficult for him to reason with the resurrection. He studied the life of Jesus before and after baptism, he came to terms with the level of power that was exhibited, but no matter how much he tried, he could't grasp what the resurrection meant and the power that it brought.

Remember this is the same man who had an incredible encounter with the Lord himself, but still could not understand what the resurrection fully meant. Christ's resurrection was the seal of everything Jesus said. Every promise and every teaching would have been meaningless without the resurrection.

The resurrection of Jesus brings total  power over life and death. It means every challenge, setback and limitation has been paralysed in a show of glory. Remember that before he rose, he descended and having disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Resurrection therefore became a celebration over every manner of evil, principality or power. He alone is the victor, and because of him we too have victory and power.

Prayer

Father I thank you for the victory that you gave me through your Son, Jesus. I pray that I may continue to understand the depth, width and height of the resurrection of our Lord. Thank you Lord, for all my challenges are overcome, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

Declaration

I live the life of an overcomer, because through the resurrection of Jesus, I have victory over limitation, setback and delay!
